“Sam Lammers Set for Loan Move to FC Utrecht from Rangers with Future Transfer Terms Undecided”
Sam Lammers‘ move from Rangers to FC Utrecht on loan is set to be finalized without
an attached fixed fee for a permanent transfer, as per The Herald’s online report on
January 9. The loan deal, anticipated to be confirmed in the next 48 hours, marks the
Dutch attacking midfielder’s return to his homeland after a challenging tenure
with Rangers, where he managed two goals and two assists in 31 appearances.
Initially acquired by former manager Michale Beale for £3.5 million from
Serie A’s Atalanta, Lammers has faced limited playing time since
Philippe Clement took charge in mid-October. Given his struggles to make
a substantial impact, the move away from Rangers in January appears logical and beneficial for all parties.
The absence of a fixed fee in the loan agreement allows Rangers greater flexibility
in determining Lammers’ future in the summer. If he excels at Utrecht,
Clement might reconsider his position, providing Rangers an advantageous
negotiating position. Conversely, if Lammers fails to impress, Rangers can
reassess the situation and make decisions about his future in the upcoming summer.
