“Celtic’s £3 Million Move for Nicolas Kuhn Nears Completion as Rapid Vienna Secures Replacement”
Rapid Vienna has swiftly identified a replacement for Nicolas Kuhn,
whose £3 million transfer to Celtic is imminent. Despite varying opinions on
Kuhn’s performance in Austria, Celtic seems eager to take the £3 million risk,
with the signing expected to be announced soon after Rapid Vienna secured his replacement.
According to reports from Austrian publication Krone, Rapid Vienna’s
sporting director Markus Katzer has approved Kuhn’s sale, as the
club intensifies its interest in Elayis Tavsan.
Tavsan, a skillful and quick winger, has only a few months left on his
contract with Eredivisie outfit NEC Nijmegen.
Kuhn, who boasts a youth career with Bayern Munich, Ajax, and
RB Leipzig, was notably absent from a friendly match between Rapid and Wiener Sport Club, with head coach
Robert Klauss explaining the decision as a precautionary measure.
While Celtic legend Chris Sutton hopes for Kuhn to defy the concerns
surrounding Brendan Rodgers’ recruitment record, he emphasizes the need for Rodgers to identify players akin to
successful signings like Hatate and O’Riley, rather than previous disappointments. Sutton views Kuhn as a project,
but Rodgers has expressed a preference for quality over projects.
In terms of departures, Celtic may consider moving Gustaf Lagerbielka,
Alexandro Bernabei, Yuki Kobayashi, and Benjamin Siegrist, having already sent Yosuke Ideguchi back to Japan.
