“Rangers’ Injury Update: Dowell Sidelined with Ankle Woe, Roofe Faces Prolonged Absence, Danilo’s Lengthy Recovery, and Davies Nearing Return”
Rangers have faced persistent injury challenges throughout the season, but as the winter break draws to a close, there is some relief on the treatment front. The team spent the break in La Manga for warm-weather training and played friendlies against Hertha Berlin and FC Copenhagen.
Manager Philippe Clement provided updates on four players’ injuries ahead of the match against Dumbarton:
- Kieran Dowell:
- The attacking midfielder, who had a decent run in the team before the winter break, sustained a serious injury during the La Manga training camp.
- Philippe Clement confirmed Dowell’s injury, stating, “It’s not ok. Kieran Dowell got injured in the training camp, so he will be out for a while. It’s his ankle, so we need to see the best way to treat it in a fast and healthy way.”
- Kemar Roofe:
- The striker, facing a streak of bad luck, is sidelined once again and might not return until the latter part of the season.
- Clement provided a succinct update, saying, “Kemar is still injured.”
- Danilo:
- Brazilian striker Danilo is grappling with a severe knee injury, and a return is not expected for a few months.
- Clement mentioned during his Scottish Cup press conference, “Dani will be injured probably until the last weeks of the season, so we don’t expect him much faster back.”
- Ben Davies:
- The English defender, absent from a matchday squad since the Scottish Premiership victory over Dundee in December, is nearing a return.
- Clement expressed, “Ben Davies is the one who is closest to coming back (from injury). All the rest have trained.”
