Reviewing Cowboys’ Receiver Situation: Considering Letting Go of Michael Gallup and Adding CeeDee Lamb?

The wide receiver unit, led by CeeDee Lamb, played a crucial role in the

Dallas Cowboys becoming the highest-scoring offense in football.

Under coach Mike McCarthy’s first year as the play-caller,

the Cowboys‘ offense improved significantly, with

Dak Prescott delivering one of his best seasons—4,516 yards, 36

touchdowns, and just nine interceptions—thanks to a wealth of

attacking options in the “Texas Coast Offense.”

CeeDee Lamb had an outstanding season, setting franchise

records with 1,749 yards and 12 touchdowns on 135 receptions,

earning him an All-Pro nod. Brandin Cooks, though

slow to start, became Prescott’s go-to guy in the

endzone, finishing with eight touchdowns and 657 yards.

Michael Gallup, on the other hand, experienced a decline in

production with career lows in catches, yards, and touchdowns,

potentially raising questions about his future with a $13.8 million cap hit.

Jalen Tolbert displayed promise with 22 receptions,

268 yards, and two touchdowns, potentially indicating a shift in the lineup.

KaVontae Turpin and rookie Jalen Brooks also contributed, with

Turpin expected to have a more significant role in McCarthy’s offense moving forward.

Despite Gallup’s struggles, the receiving unit had a generally

successful season, with Lamb as the standout.

The Cowboys face decisions regarding Gallup’s future,

considering the emerging talents of Tolbert and Turpin.

The possibility of parting ways with Gallup and addressing the

cap implications is being contemplated, especially with the

impending sizable contract for CeeDee Lamb.
