“Everton Faces Stiff Competition from European Giants in Pursuit of FC Nürnberg’s Rising Star Can Uzun”

Everton is exploring the possibility of signing FC Nürnberg striker Can Uzun, but faces stiff competition from various European clubs, as reported by Florian Plettenberg. The Sky Sports Germany journalist revealed on his Twitter account that Everton, along with Newcastle, Brighton, Fulham, Sevilla, and Villarreal, is keen on the “incredible” 18-year-old forward.

Plettenberg had previously mentioned in October that Everton had inquired about the German-born talent. However, concrete talks have already occurred with Dortmund, and Uzun’s price tag for potential suitors in the summer exceeds €10m (£8.6m).

In a recent tweet, Plettenberg stated, “Can Uzun, two more goals for Nürnberg today! 18 y/o striker, incredible talent, key player! Price tag in summer: More than €10m. Concrete talks with Dortmund took place. Bayern have inquired about him. He’s a target for Frankfurt. Newcastle have scouted him. He’s also on the list of Fulham, Brighton, Everton, Sevilla, Villarreal.”

The competition for Uzun is intense, with Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich already making moves. Everton, grappling with financial challenges, aims to secure their long-term financial sustainability by developing young talent. Despite their prior interest, Everton faces an uphill battle given the financial constraints and the high demand for Uzun, who has impressed with eight goals in the German second division this season.
