“Rangers Set to Secure Mohamed Diomande in £4.5M Deal with Long-Term Contract, Marking a Statement Signing for January”
Mohamed Diomande is poised to secure a significant move to Rangers for £4.5 million, with Chris Jack indicating that the FC Nordsjaelland midfielder will sign a “long-term contract” at Ibrox.
Despite the delay caused by Storm Isha, the 22-year-old from
Côte d’Ivoire is expected to complete the transfer soon, becoming a notable January addition to Philippe Clement’s squad.
Jack reported on Twitter that the deal includes a substantial fee
and a commitment from Diomande for the foreseeable future,
emphasizing that this signing represents a strong statement of intent from Rangers.
Given the substantial investment in Diomande, it is crucial for
Rangers to secure his services for an extended period, avoiding the
risk of losing him on a free transfer in the near future.
Despite not being widely recognized in Scotland,
the club evidently views him as a significant midseason acquisition.
While central midfield may not have seemed an immediate priority in
the January transfer window, injuries to Ryan Jack, Nico
Raskin’s prolonged absence in late 2023, and Jose Cifuentes’ struggles since his summer arrival have created a need.
Additionally, Diomande’s versatility to play on the left flank could prove valuable, especially with Abdallah Sima, a key player this season, ruled out due to injury.
Rangers made substantial investments in Sam Lammers, Danilo, and Cyriel Dessers in the summer, but the outcomes have varied.
With Diomande’s arrival, there is added pressure for him to demonstrate clear success over the remainder of the season.
