“Celtic Concludes January Transfer Business with Nicolas Kuhn Signing; No Further Additions Expected Despite Earlier Kvistgaarden Interest”
Celtic has no intentions of further signings this month, according to sources, following the recent acquisition of Nicolas Kuhn.
The club’s board and Brendan Rodgers are reportedly content with the squad’s current state after the inclusion of the German player.
Anticipating the return of several players from the Asian Cup, including Kyogo Furuhashi and Daizen Maeda, the Celtic management is satisfied with the squad’s upcoming reinforcement by mid-February.
While earlier reports indicated progress in securing Brondby striker Mathias Kvistgaarden, the potential deal now appears to be off, signaling the conclusion of Celtic’s January transfer activities.
The signing of Nicolas Kuhn, who joined on a five-year deal from Rapid Vienna for a reported £3 million, stands as the club’s sole addition during the winter window.
Celtic may witness additional departures this month following various player movements, including Nat Phillips’ loan cancellation, Yosuke Ideguchi’s transfer to Vissel Kobe, and the confirmed loan deals of Adam Montgomery, Johnny Kenny, and Kwon Hyeok-kyu. Notably, there is openness to accepting an offer for goalkeeper Benjamin Siegrist, with interest coming from Europe.
Despite an offer from La Liga’s Atletico Madrid for Matt O’Riley, Rodgers has confirmed the rejection, emphasizing the club’s commitment to retaining the player this month.
Leading the Scottish league, Celtic recently advanced to the fifth round of the Scottish Cup after defeating Buckie Thistle. Their upcoming league fixture is against Ross County at Parkhead on Saturday afternoon (27 January).
