There have been few arrivals or departures on the blue side of Merseyside, as financial constraints, the imminent

takeover by 777 Partners, and the specter of Financial Fair Play weigh heavily on Sean Dyche’s team as they seek to

bolster their squad with much-needed quality.

According to reports by Alan Nixon in early November, Everton were reportedly interested in acquiring the “next

Jordan Pickford,” with Dyche reportedly dispatching scouts to observe the League One goalkeeper’s performances in

anticipation of a possible January transfer, contingent upon Everton’s ability to raise the necessary funds.

However, Nixon disclosed on Sunday, January 28, that Preston North End are now evaluating the goalkeeper for a

last-minute transfer in January, with Ryan Lowe’s scouting team also closely monitoring Tickle’s performances

throughout the season.

Preston North End is not the only club expressing interest in the 21-year-old, as Birmingham City has also included

him in their shortlist after being impressed by his breakthrough season under Shaun Maloney.

The competition to secure Tickle’s services is intensifying, and Everton cannot afford to lag behind, especially

considering the quality of competitors vying for his signature.

While Everton may not have abundant financial resources, Dyche’s team possesses greater spending capability

compared to both Preston and Birmingham City. Neither of these clubs are among the wealthiest in the

Championship.

Securing Tickle’s signature could mean Everton securing their next primary goalkeeper for potentially over a decade.

The 21-year-old has showcased his talent at the League One level and could gradually transition into filling Jordan

Pickford’s role in goal for Everton.

Everton must act swiftly to secure Tickle’s services now, as his value is likely to increase if he performs well in the

Championship.

This January transfer window presents the ideal opportunity for the Toffees to make their move, and they must

devise a strategy to finalize the deal before they are outmaneuvered by a Championship club.
