“Rangers Transfer Update: Jose Cifuentes Set for January Exit, According to BBC Sport”

Rangers’ midfielder Jose Cifuentes is reportedly on the brink of finalizing a move away from the club during the January transfer window, as indicated by BBC Sport.

The 24-year-old is expected to travel to Rize in Turkey to complete his loan-to-buy switch to Rizespor.

The proposed deal includes a £2 million option to buy, although Rangers had initially hoped to make the move a mandatory permanent transfer.

Despite earlier speculation suggesting that Cifuentes might not be keen on a move to the Turkish Super Lig, recent developments indicate that his transfer to the country is now imminent.

While there were initial signs that Cifuentes could be a valuable addition to the Rangers’ midfield, his adaptation to the team has proven challenging.

With 20 appearances, of which only nine were in the SPFL, the Ecuadorian midfielder has struggled to find consistent form.

Injuries, a standard concern for Rangers players, and an untimely suspension during the Viaplay Cup final added to the challenges.

The report suggests that Rangers might view this move as a mistake and, if they can make a profit on the £1.2 million spent in the summer, it could serve as a positive outcome amid the overall disappointment with Cifuentes’ performance on the pitch.
