Ridvan Yilmaz: Galatasaray Gains £25m from Bayern Transfer, Engages in Ongoing Discussions with Rangers
Galatasaray has received a financial boost of approximately £25 million through the sale of Sacha Boey to Bayern Munich, enhancing their transfer budget.
The deal, officially announced by Bayern, is reported to be valued at €30 million (£25.6 million).
Despite Boey’s position as a right-back, Galatasaray’s manager, Okan Buruk, has
emphasized the importance of acquiring a left-back during the January transfer window.
The sale of Boey has sparked interest in Scotland, particularly concerning the
ongoing discussions about Ridvan Yilmaz joining Rangers.
Galatasaray’s second bid for the former Besiktas full-back was rejected, and the funds
from Boey’s transfer are expected to support any future move for Yilmaz.
Turkish journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu, closely following the developments, has indicated
that talks between Rangers and Galatasaray are scheduled for the upcoming week.
Reports on Rangers’ valuation of Yilmaz vary, with the price tag ranging from €4.5
million to €6 million (£3.8 million to £5 million).
Despite emerging as a key player for Rangers, Yilmaz seems content with the club, but
Rangers manager Philippe Clement has made it clear that they are open to selling if
Galatasaray meets the valuation.
The sale of Boey has raised concerns among Rangers fans, as it implies increased
competition for securing Yilmaz. While Rangers have been linked to several left-backs
in the January transfer window, recent reports suggest that negotiations are progressing
with Brazilian option Jefte, a 20-year-old Fluminense defender on loan at APOEL Nicosia in Cyprus.
Meanwhile, Rangers’ long-term left-back Borna Barisic remains at the club but is set to be out
of contract at the end of the season.
