“Premier League Clubs Everton and Luton Town Vie for Striking Sensation Chuba Akpom in Last-Minute Winter Transfer Tussle”
Everton and Luton Town are showing interest in securing a loan deal for Anglo-Nigerian forward Chuba Akpom before the closure of the winter transfer window on Thursday.
As reported by TEAMtalk, both Premier League clubs aim to enlist the services of the former Middlesbrough forward to bolster their positions in the league.
Everton, currently one point away from the relegation zone due to a 10-point deduction for breaching profit and sustainability rules, are also grappling with offensive challenges, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Arnaut Danjuma struggling to score, contributing to a total of 24 goals— the fourth lowest in the league.
Similarly, Luton finds themselves in 18th place with a goal-scoring record matching Everton’s 24 goals in the league this season.
The potential acquisition of Akpom could prove beneficial for both teams, especially if he replicates his impressive form from the Championship with Middlesbrough last season.
Akpom, despite a slow start at Ajax, has shown improvement in recent months, netting nine goals in twenty appearances.
The 28-year-old is reportedly open to a move to the Premier League, but the outcome depends on whether Ajax is willing to approve a deal for his return to England.
The decision on this prospective transfer remains pending.
