Celtic ‘suspend’ talks about defender’s departure as former Rangers player ‘declines’ to leave current club amid persistent discord.

The final days of the January transfer window often bring some of its most significant stories,

and this holds true for both Celtic and Rangers this month.

Celtic has experienced a relatively quiet window in terms of new arrivals, with German winger

Nicolas Kuhn being the notable addition from Rapid Vienna.

However, much attention at Parkhead revolves around potential departures.

While Rocco Vata and Matt O’Riley are set to stay with the Hoops, the status of summer

signing Gustaf Lagerbielke remains uncertain.

The Swedish defender, who joined in the summer from IF Elfsborg, has struggled to make

the desired impact, making just six league appearances and falling behind in the pecking order behind Cameron

Carter-Vickers and Liam Scales.

Italian outlets Corriere dello Sport report interest from Leece and Genoa in Lagerbielke, with

Sky Sport suggesting contract talks for a potential loan-to-buy offer.

Nevertheless, talks between the parties have hit a stumbling block, and recent developments,

including an injury to Carter-Vickers, could lead to Lagerbielke staying at Celtic until the season’s end.

Ryan Kent, a standout player in Steven Gerrard’s title-winning Rangers team in 2020/21, is currently facing challenges in Turkey with Fenerbahce.

The winger has fallen out with manager İsmail Kartal and has made only seven league appearances, mostly from the bench.

Despite being linked with various clubs, including Steven Gerrard’s Al-Ettifaq and Dinamo

Zagreb, reports from TRT Spor suggest that Kent is refusing to leave Fenerbahce, leading to the possibility of his contract being frozen, allowing him to remain in Istanbul without receiving a wage until the summer.
