Everton explores potential last-minute midfielder deal in latest transfer update, says Alan Myers
Everton considered the possibility of signing a new midfielder at Goodison Park before the transfer deadline, but
Alan Myers stated that the deal was “clearly” not feasible. Responding to a fan on X who inquired about rumors of
progress toward acquiring a new midfielder, the Sky Sports journalist explained that while a deal was explored, it
ultimately did not materialize.
For the second consecutive year, the January transfer window at Goodison Park has been notably subdued, with the
club’s financial situation limiting the potential deals available.
The conclusion of the season proved to be challenging.
Nobody anticipated a bustling deadline day at Everton, but the complete absence of rumors, coupled with the club’s
inability to secure a deal once again, will surely add to the frustration for fans. This echoes last January when
Everton stood as the sole Premier League club not to complete a single deal. While transfers have been sluggish this
year due to financial constraints, the club finds itself at the bottom of the table in terms of transfer activity yet again.
Following Luton’s impressive 4-0 victory against Brighton and Sean Dyche’s side managing only a 0-0 draw with
Fulham, Everton finds themselves pulled into the relegation zone. The Toffees now sit below Luton, who also have a
game in hand.
