After Tottenham’s draw, Ange Postecoglu calls Everton’s admittance “inevitable.”
Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou acknowledged the challenging nature of playing at Goodison Park, stating that it’s “almost inevitable” for Everton to exert pressure on visiting teams in the later stages of the game. Despite leading twice through Richarlison, Spurs were denied victory by Jarrad Branthwaite’s last-minute equalizer in a 2-2 draw.
Postecoglou expressed disappointment at conceding a late goal, mentioning the need for a buffer and a third goal to secure the win.
He highlighted Everton’s ability to apply pressure, especially in the final 10 minutes of the game, emphasizing the importance of handling such situations.
Regarding Everton‘s targeting of Spurs goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario on set-pieces, Postecoglou acknowledged the futility of disputing decisions and emphasized the need to deal with such challenges. Despite expressing disappointment with referees’ reluctance to call certain situations, he recognized the team’s responsibility to move forward.
Former Everton striker Richarlison scored both goals for Spurs in his first return to Goodison Park since being sold in the summer of 2022. While praising Richarlison’s performance and goal-scoring ability, Postecoglou believes there is still room for improvement, stating that the Brazilian is working hard on his game.
