Neal Maupay’s windfall at Brentford is ready to come to Everton as loan terms surface.
Everton stands on the brink of a financial boon from Brentford, thanks to a clause unearthed in Neal Maupay’s loan agreement, as per the Liverpool ECHO.
In a report dated February 6th, the news outlet reveals that there’s a performance-related bonus embedded in the deal between the two clubs, which facilitated the transfer of the French striker to west London last summer.
Following Maupay’s seventh goal of the season in Brentford’s recent 3-1 defeat to
Manchester City on February 5th, it has emerged that the Bees will owe Everton
additional funds after a specified number of appearances, a scenario that now seems increasingly likely as Maupay forms a formidable partnership with Ivan Toney.
Moreover, there are notable advantages for Everton if Maupay sustains his successful loan spell.
This could lead Brentford to consider exercising their option to purchase Maupay at the end of the season. Additionally, his growing significance on the field bodes well
for Everton, as the agreement apparently includes an appearance-based bonus, which he is edging closer to triggering with increased game time.
While it’s improbable that any bonus in a loan agreement would be substantial, every financial gain counts for Everton in their current situation.
Maupay’s disappointing stint at Goodison Park during his previous season with the
club contrasts sharply with his resurgence in form at Brentford, illustrating why Everton
invested £12 million in him two years ago.
However, his lackluster performance at Everton, coupled with the club’s
financial constraints, necessitated his departure.
The hope now is that Maupay can regain his form through consistent playing
time and potentially secure a permanent move elsewhere.
The ideal scenario would involve Brentford fulfilling the appearance bonus and then
considering a permanent acquisition at the end of the season, allowing Everton to
recoup a significant portion of the initial transfer fee.
Given Maupay’s apparent lack of prospects at Goodison Park or Bramley Moore Dock,
any incoming funds would be greatly beneficial to Everton in their current financial predicament.
The existence of this clause offers a ray of hope, with a potential influx of funds on the horizon.
