An expert in finance believes Everton’s appeal has a chance and projects their new point deduction.
It appears that Everton is currently in a holding pattern awaiting the outcome of their appeal.
The decision by the independent commission could significantly impact the Premier League,
potentially restoring Everton to 12th place if the points deduction is fully overturned.
While this outcome is unlikely, some supporters are cautiously optimistic, seeing a glimmer
of hope amid their disappointment.
Football finance expert Kieran Maguire has provided insight into the situation, suggesting a
reduction in the points deduction may be forthcoming.
In an interview with Guilia Bould for BBC Sport Merseyside, Maguire speculated that a reduction from ten to six points, possibly with some suspended, could be a plausible scenario.
He hinted at a collaborative approach between Everton and the Premier League, acknowledging
recent changes within Everton’s leadership aligning more closely with the league’s objectives.
While a reduced deduction would be a welcome development for Everton and their manager
Sean Dyche, there are arguments for pushing for an even greater reduction.
Concerns have been raised by supporters regarding the fairness of the Premier League’s calculations
and the nature of the punishment imposed.
With noted barrister KC Laurence Rabinowitz leading the defense, Everton had a strong case during the appeal hearings held from Wednesday to Friday last week. The outcome of the appeal is anticipated
to be announced by mid-February.
