The director has “decided” to submit a proposal. Everton player: Make a bid at a price that is “already guaranteed”
Barcelona‘s director of football, Deco, has directed his attention towards acquiring Everton midfielder Amadou Onana as part of his plans for the upcoming season, as reported by Sport.
Deco has reportedly made the decision to pursue Onana, believing that the Belgian midfielder
can bring greater consistency to Barcelona’s team.
This move comes after disagreements with manager Xavi regarding transfer strategies,
but with Xavi’s departure, Deco is now pushing forward with his plans and has initiated contact with interested parties to kickstart negotiations.
However, a major obstacle in this potential transfer is Everton’s valuation of Onana.
The club paid €35 million to sign him from Lille, and they are now seeking to at least
double their investment.
When Arsenal and Chelsea showed interest in Onana, Everton reportedly demanded €60 million
for his transfer.
Barcelona’s financial constraints, compounded by Financial Fair Play regulations, make meeting
Everton’s asking price challenging.
Deco has set a maximum limit of €40 million for any deal involving Onana, acknowledging that a higher figure is not feasible given Barcelona’s financial situation.
Despite Deco’s determination, securing Onana’s transfer at the desired price remains uncertain, with Everton holding firm on their valuation of €60 million.
