What Premier League players actually think of Neal Maupay following the altercation between James Maddison and Kyle Walker
Brentford striker Neal Maupay, known for his provocative on-field behavior, has been labeled as one of the “most disliked” players by a Premier League footballer.
Maupay has been involved in heated confrontations with Tottenham Hotspur’s James
Maddison and Manchester City’s Kyle Walker in recent matches.
In one instance, Maupay mocked Maddison’s goal celebration and later boasted on Instagram about his career achievements compared to Maddison’s.
Subsequently, during a game against Manchester City, Maupay engaged in a heated argument with
Walker, allegedly making mocking remarks about Walker’s private life.
West Ham forward Michail Antonio acknowledged Maupay’s reputation for provocation on the pitch, but noted that off the field, he is considered a “nice guy.”
Speaking on the Footballer’s Football Podcast, Antonio highlighted Maupay’s deliberate efforts
to unsettle opponents during matches.
Fulham’s Tom Cairney described Maupay’s antics as an “art form,” acknowledging his ability
to frustrate opponents without drawing unnecessary fouls. Cairney noted Walker’s close call
with losing his temper during a recent match against Maupay.
Regarding the altercation between Walker and Maupay, a professional lip reader revealed what Walker claimed Maupay said to him during their on-pitch row.
According to the lip reader’s analysis, Walker accused Maupay of making derogatory remarks
about his children, which Maupay denied.
Despite Maupay giving Brentford the lead in their match against Manchester City, City rallied back
with Phil Foden scoring a hat-trick to secure a 3-1 victory, lifting City to second place in the
Premier League table.
Pep Guardiola refrained from commenting on the incident post-match, adding to the mystery
surrounding the altercation.
The specific comments exchanged between Walker and Maupay remain unconfirmed by
either party involved, leaving some uncertainty about the incident.
