The player’s choice to decline Everton isn’t working out. Manager is now “practically ostracized”
Hannibal Mejbri’s decision to join Sevilla over Everton during the January transfer window seems to have backfired, as his loan spell at the Spanish club has not gone as expected.
According to Estadio Deportivo, Mejbri is now “practically ostracized”
by Sevilla manager Quique Sanchez Flores.
Mejbri opted to move to Sevilla on loan in January in hopes of securing
regular playing time until the end of the season, which he wasn’t guaranteed at his parent club.
Despite Everton also showing interest in signing him to bolster their squad for the
relegation battle under Sean Dyche, Mejbri chose the Spanish side.
Sevilla reportedly had high expectations for Mejbri and received positive reports about him.
However, the reality has been far from ideal. His involvement with the
team has been minimal, with his presence described as “practically anecdotal.”
Unfortunately, there are no signs of improvement in Mejbri’s situation.
Manager Quique Sanchez Flores has raised concerns about his commitment and
attitude on multiple occasions, and there hasn’t been significant progress in addressing these issues.
Mejbri has only played 36 minutes so far and finds himself in a precarious position with little prospect of improvement in the near future.
This situation makes a permanent move in the summer unlikely, as Sevilla is unlikely to
activate the purchase clause in his loan unless there is a significant improvement in his performance.
Overall, Mejbri’s decision to choose Sevilla over Everton appears to have been a misstep,
as he has failed to make a positive impression and now faces uncertainty about his future prospects.
