Premier League: Everton concentrated on issues on the field
Everton is anticipated to receive the outcome of their appeal against a 10-point penalty this week, but defender James Tarkowski emphasizes that the players are concentrating on their performance on the field as they strive to move away from the Premier League relegation zone.
The club was penalized in November due to financial issues during the 2020-21 season,
prompting them to appeal the penalty in December.
Despite initially winning four consecutive matches after the points deduction, Everton
has faced challenges and now finds themselves in a relegation battle following a
streak of eight league games without a win.
When asked about discussions regarding the potential return of points to the club within the dressing room, Tarkowski told Sky Sports after Monday’s 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace:
“I don’t think we try and speculate too much. No one really knows what’s going to happen.
We are solely focusing on the points we’ve earned at the moment, and if we
do regain some points, time will reveal…”
During the match against Crystal Palace, Jordan Ayew scored to give Palace a
second-half lead, while an Amadou Onana goal secured a 1-1 draw, allowing Everton
to move out of the bottom three but only by goal difference.
