Significant Everton point deduction news, impending announcement – sources
Within the next 48 hours, Everton will receive the outcome of their appeal against the 10-point deduction, as per sources disclosed to Football Insider.
An independent panel will privately inform the Merseyside club whether they’ve successfully contested any portion of the deducted points.
Subsequently, both the Premier League and Everton’s official channels are expected to make public announcements regarding the decision.
Should Everton’s appeal be fruitful and points restored, they will promptly return to the Premier League standings.
The deduction came in November after Everton was found to have breached the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules, which restrict clubs from exceeding £105 million in losses over a three-year period. Everton surpassed this limit by £19.5 million.
However, the club appealed the decision. Furthermore, they face a second breach charge alongside Nottingham Forest after their 2022-23 financial accounts release in January.
The hearing for this second charge will commence following the conclusion of their initial
appeal, with a verdict anticipated before the 2023-24 season’s end.
Currently positioned 17th in the Premier League standings, Everton narrowly edges above
Luton Town in the relegation zone, relying solely on goal difference.
