A’magician’ remark is made by the U21 boss regarding a forgotten Everton footballer.

Despite facing significant challenges with injuries and fitness throughout this season, Everton midfielder Andre Gomes, who impressed during a loan stint last year, remains dedicated to the club and the sport, according to U21 manager Paul Tait.

Gomes, aged 30, has had limited playing time under Sean Dyche this season, featuring in just five matches, yet showcasing his talent with goals against Tottenham and Crystal Palace.

However, he has been sidelined for 24 games due to injuries.

With his contract expiring this summer, his future at the club is uncertain.

During his recovery from a calf injury, Gomes played for the U21 side, logging 107 minutes

across two matches in the Premier League 2 division. Tait, describing Gomes as a remarkable footballer, utilized

him in midfield during these games.

Tait commended Gomes’ commitment, noting an instance when Gomes

insisted on staying on the bench with teammates despite being substituted.

Gomes spent last season on loan at Lille, where he made 27 appearances, hinting at

a potential permanent move, but no agreement materialized.

Since his transfer from Barcelona in 2019, Gomes

has been among Everton’s highest earners.

However, given his injury struggles and uncertain playing time,

Everton might opt to part ways with him for financial reasons.
