Micah Richards and Gary Lineker argue over a “dangerous” Everton vs. Brighton incident on MOTD.
According to BBC Sport pundit Micah Richards, Everton midfielder Amadou Onana was at risk of a broken leg due to Brighton midfielder Billy Gilmour’s high tackle during their match on Saturday.
Richards expressed his concern about the tackle’s height and deemed it worthy of a red card.
However, fellow BBC Sport pundit Gary Lineker disagreed, suggesting that Gilmour’s action was merely a follow-through after kicking the ball.
Despite the contentious tackle, Everton put up a strong fight against Brighton, particularly given the challenging nature of playing away from home.
Jarrad Branthwaite’s goal in the 73rd minute seemed to put Everton in a commanding position, especially after Gilmour received a red card for his challenge on Onana. However, Brighton’s Lewis Dunk equalized in the 95th minute, denying Everton a crucial victory.
The late equalizer undoubtedly frustrated Everton manager Sean Dyche, as it squandered an opportunity to climb up the Premier League table and distance the team from the relegation zone.
