Everton: Sean Dyche may now provide Youssef Chermiti further playing time.
Despite being sent off in a recent match, Everton‘s young talent Youssef Chermiti showcased a performance that could capture the attention of manager Sean Dyche.
Dyche has been observing striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s struggle to score in 20 consecutive games, while Beto, a high-profile signing in the summer, has faced challenges adapting to the
Premier League, with only one goal in 21 league appearances this season, falling short of his expected goals (xG) by 2.48.
Chermiti, who joined Everton alongside Beto in the summer, has been utilized as the
third or fourth striking option by Dyche. Despite initial expectations of competing with Calvert-Lewin for a starting
position, Chermiti hasn’t seen significant playing time so far.
However, there’s speculation that Dyche might consider a shake-up in the lineup in the coming weeks, potentially giving Chermiti a chance to make an impact.
Chermiti’s recent performance, including scoring two goals against Fulham under-21s before being sent off for dissent, garnered attention. Although receiving a red card is not ideal, it highlights
Chermiti’s determination to contribute to the team’s goal-scoring efforts.
Given Everton’s struggles in front of goal and their reliance on standout finishes
from players like Amadou Onana, there’s a suggestion that Chermiti should be given more playing time.
Reports indicate that Chermiti won’t face suspension for the upcoming match against
West Ham, and omitting Beto from the matchday squad could send a message about
the need for improvement.
This move could signal a shift in Dyche’s approach and provide Chermiti with an
opportunity to prove his worth on the field.
