Everton: As Tottenham negotiations begin, a “disastrous” Dele Alli scenario is presented at Goodison Park.

Everton has reopened negotiations with Tottenham regarding a potential deal for Dele Alli to prevent what is deemed as a “disastrous” outcome, as reported by The Express.

“If Alli reaches 20 appearances for Everton before the end of his contract, the Toffees will

be obligated to pay £10 million, which could pose significant financial strain for the

cash-strapped Merseyside club.

“Everton has already faced a points deduction for breaching financial fair play regulations

this year and is under the threat of another penalty.

Given that the current terms of the contract discourage Everton from fielding Alli,

Tottenham is now seeking to modify the agreement, making Everton liable

to pay regardless of appearances.

“Although Everton rejected a similar proposal before Alli’s injury last year, negotiations

between the two clubs have resumed.

Everton is keen on re-signing the attacking midfielder and reaching a

revised agreement with Spurs.”

Understandably, Everton would prefer not to incur a £10 million fee to Tottenham,

which could prevent Dele from reaching the 20-appearance mark.

This situation isn’t equitable for the 27-year-old, who likely just wants to focus on playing

football after overcoming injury and personal challenges.

Therefore, it’s in the best interests of both Everton and Tottenham to either renegotiate

terms or allow the player to seek opportunities elsewhere during the summer transfer window.

As of now, Dele hasn’t cost Everton anything aside from his wages, which is a setback

for Tottenham as they had anticipated a transfer fee of up to £40 million.
