While Dyche mentions that Everton’s players practice penalties in training, the pressure of a real game situation is different. While Beto scored against West Ham, consistency is key, and I’d prefer

a more experienced player like Calvert-Lewin to take charge if he’s on the field.

If not, sticking to basics with someone like James Tarkowski seems prudent.

Matt Jones – Consider Unconventional Options

After the initial relief of finally getting a penalty, there was a sobering realization that converting it wasn’t guaranteed. Beto’s attempt highlighted the need for a more reliable penalty taker.

While Calvert-Lewin would be the obvious choice, his recent goal drought raises questions.

Doucoure, McNeil, or Harrison lack the necessary confidence for such a task.

Surprisingly, options like Pickford, Branthwaite, or Tarkowski might be worth

considering, highlighting Everton’s lack of specialist penalty takers.

 

Considering Everton’s historic struggles with penalties, perhaps scouting the

Under-18s for a sharpshooter might be a wise move.
