News about the Everton move as Ceiran Loney arrives at Finch Farm
Everton has expressed interest in acquiring the promising young forward Ceiran Loney from Partick Thistle, as reported by the Daily Record.
According to the newspaper’s website on March 7, Loney has been granted
permission by his club to visit Finch Farm, Everton’s training ground, next week.
Scouts have been impressed by Loney’s recent performances, leading to attention
from several top English clubs, with Everton initiating the first contact.
Despite playing for Thistle’s under-18 side, Loney has demonstrated his talent against
more experienced players, prompting the Scottish club to believe that he could
soon feature in their first team.
Although Thistle has allowed Loney to trial at Finch Farm, they are still hopeful
of securing him on a professional contract.
Loney is among a group of Partick Thistle youngsters attracting interest from other clubs. A move to Everton’s academy could potentially pave the way for more highly-rated young players to depart from the club.
Everton’s director of football, Kevin Thelwell, outlined in December a new transfer
strategy focused on recruiting young players with potential and eventually selling them for profit.
If Loney secures a permanent transfer following his trial, his club is likely to receive a compensation fee.
However, if he develops and earns a place in Everton’s first team, there could be
significant potential for a lucrative sale in the future.
