Ashley Williams calls out an Everton player who was “lazy” after making a mistake against Manchester United.
Yesterday, Everton suffered a 2-0 loss to Manchester United, with two penalties ultimately deciding the outcome. Despite Everton‘s historically poor luck with referees, they were awarded their
first penalty of the season last week, but unfortunately, missed it.
In contrast, Manchester United, known for benefiting from referee decisions,
capitalized on both penalties in the recent match.
While some may debate the validity of the penalties, Everton’s Ashley Williams
expressed disappointment with James Tarkowski’s tackle, which led to one of the penalties.
Williams commended Everton’s proactive start to the game but emphasized the
consequences of Tarkowski’s rash challenge, resulting in a penalty.
Tarkowski’s performance against Manchester United was underwhelming, marked by minimal defensive contributions such as blocks, interceptions, clearances, and tackles.
This departure from his usual composed style at the back was evident, especially as
Everton struggled to assert control, contrary to their usual possession-based play.
Overall, Tarkowski’s performance was disappointing, failing to support Everton’s
defensive solidity in what was an otherwise decent display from the team.
