Everton: Connections to Russian Oligarchs Emerge Following Meeting with Premier League by 777 Partners

777 Partners’ Business Dealings with Russian Oligarch Linked to Vladimir Putin and the Kremlin Amid Everton Takeover Bid, Josima Reports

The investigative football journalism outlet reported on its website on Wednesday (13 March) that the US investment firm’s initial venture into club ownership was backed by Oleg Boyko. Boyko, who was sanctioned by Ukraine, Canada, and Australia in 2022 for his purported connections to the Kremlin, has raised concerns.

The report stated that the Moscow-born oligarch became an indirect investor in 777-owned Seville in 2018 after providing a $10 million loan (£7.81 million).

Josimar added that while the company may continue to assert that Premier League approval of its takeover at Goodison Park is imminent, there are “no tangible signs of progress” on the deal following its recent meeting with the governing body.

It was revealed that 777 declined to comment when contacted about the claims in the report.

Unease Surrounds 777 Takeover Bid for Everton

There are far too many doubts being raised about 777 as these latest accusations join a long list of reports that have surfaced over the past few months.

The claims have ranged from its credit rating being lowered to allegations that it’s missed several payments, and now there are links to a Russian oligarch.

That certainly won’t sit well with the Premier League, and it’s something the government is likely to also be concerned about, especially considering its response to oligarchs in the UK following the Ukraine war.

While Everton fans are eager to see the departure of Farhad Moshiri, there seem to be more questions than answers about whether 777 is truly the solution to their hopes at Goodison Park.
