Kieran Maguire Suggests Potential Points Deduction Reduction for Everton and Nottingham Forest
The football finance expert asserted that both Everton and Nottingham Forest, facing potential points deductions, could agree to a reduction by two points if they refrain from appealing the commission’s initial verdict.
It was also disclosed that Maguire has been informed of the date when Forest will receive the outcome of their verdict, although he refrained from sharing the specific date on the podcast.
Speaking on The Price of Football podcast [March 14], Maguire stated: “There is a lot of frustration. We’ve been given a heads-up as to when the verdict on the Forest case is coming up, but it’s a rumor and would not be appropriate to divulge.
“The commission is supposed to be independent of both the premier leagueand the clubs. There are always routes for mitigation.”
It’s possible that advisors to both clubs have advised them to consider the commission’s advice and agree to reduce the penalty by two points per club if they accept the verdict without appeal. Everything is on the table.”

Everton experienced their previous ten-point deduction reduced to six, which was seen as a success for the club. However, they will undergo the stress once more when the verdict is delivered on their second profit and sustainability charge.
