Raheem Sterling, who missed the game against Everton due to illness, has returned to training and is set to face his former team, Manchester City, this weekend at Wembley.

Before Chelsea’s Manchester City FA Cup match, a player who called in sick to Cobham training is welcomed back by Chelsea…

Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino confirmed last week that Sterling was unwell, citing food poisoning as the cause. Pochettino mentioned Sterling’s absence from training due to back discomfort following the Sheffield game, adding that they needed to evaluate his condition.

Reports from the Daily Mail indicate that Sterling’s illness resulted in weight loss due to vomiting typically associated with food poisoning.

While Chelsea has shown positive progress recently, their true mettle will be tested against Manchester City, who faced a draining defeat against Real Madrid in the Champions League.

A victory in the upcoming match would bring Chelsea closer to winning the FA Cup, potentially securing their spot in the Europa League as well.

The FA Cup represents a crucial opportunity for Chelsea to turn their fortunes around, especially after their League Cup loss to Liverpool earlier in the season. Despite doubts about their performance, they’ve shown strength in Cup competitions, with Cole Palmer emerging as a standout player. If Palmer continues to excel, Chelsea could upset Pep Guardiola’s side in another Cup competition.

Sterling’s career trajectory after leaving Guardiola’s tutelage highlights the potential for success even after departing from a top-tier manager like Guardiola.
