Instant reactions from No. 16 Oklahoma State’s thrilling comeback win against Arkansas in double overtime
Oklahoma State overcame an ugly first half to defeat Arkansas in Stillwater.
STILLWATER, Okla. — After giving up more than 300 yards in the first half and putting up less than 100 of their own, the No. 16 Oklahoma State Cowboys buckled down and played a solid second half against Arkansas to improve to 2-0 on the season.
It was ugly for much of the morning as Arkansas’ offense ran all over the Cowboys and the offense struggled to create any sort of rhythm or consistency.
But in the second half, Oklahoma State scored 21 unanswered to take the lead and put themselves in a position to win, 39-31 in double overtime.
Kale Smith’s interception for a touchdown was game-changing. It kept Arkansas from going up 21-0 and gave life to a deflated Boone Pickens Stadium. Absolutely electric play from a guy who should start going forward.
— Oklahoma State survived a bad day from its offensive line. Doak Walker Award-winning running back Ollie Gordon had no holes to run through and managed less than three yards per carry for just the third time in the last two seasons. Sesi Vailahi couldn’t do much either. The offensive line didn’t give up any sacks, sure, but the push was just not there for the Cowboys. Has to be fixed.
