Rodgers unhappy at how much TV deals dictate modern football

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has voiced his frustration over the scheduling disparities affecting his team’s preparation for their UEFA Champions League match against Borussia Dortmund.

While Celtic visit St Johnstone on Saturday evening live on Premier Sports, Dortmund played their home Bundesliga match against Vfl Bochum on Friday night, allowing them more recovery time.

Rodgers believes that British broadcast deals hinder clubs in Scotland and England, making it challenging to compete in Europe.

He argues that more support is needed for teams to adequately prepare for such crucial matches, and then we might see a stronger collective result.

“I think for all British teams it’s a frustration,” the Northern Irishman said. “Borussia Dortmund will play Bochum on Friday, they moved the game a day earlier so it gives them three or four days to prepare for our game.
