Road sealed off in bristol following horror incident this morning

A key route out of Birmingham city centre is closed this evening as 999 crews respond to a major crash. The A38 Bristol Road outbound is currently blocked following the crash, which is understood to have involved multiple cars.

West Midlands Police, West Midlands Fire Service and West Midlands Ambulance are all in attendance on the route, which remains closed. One eyewitness described it as a “horror smash”, telling BirminghamLive: “There is a car upside down, fire engines are there.”

t Live traffic system INRIX stated just before 7pm: “A38 Bristol Road outbound blocked, queueing traffic due to accidenfrom A4029 Pebble Mill Road to Eastern Road. Congestion to Speedwell Road. Surrounding routes are also congested including Priory Road and Edgbaston Road.” Buses are also being diverted away from the area.

It is the second serious incident in the city this evening. Investigators are currently at the scene of a serious crash which has closed Pershore Road.
