Five teenagers have been taken to hospital after a horror crash in Staffordshire saw five ambulance scrambled to the scene. Emergency services descended on the incident in Enville yesterday evening where two cars had been in collision.
Today West Midlands Ambulance Service has confirmed there was a total of eight casualties – which included five teenagers, all from the same car. One of those teens was said to have suffered ‘life-threatening injuries’.
The alarm was raised on Highgate Common just after 6.30pm where five ambulances, three paramedic officers, a Hazardous Area Response Team (HART), two BASICS emergency doctors and the Critical Care Car were all scrambled. Paramedics say along with the five male teenagers, three patients from the second car were treated.
A spokeswoman said: “On arrival crews discovered eight patients, five of whom were male teenagers, all from the same car. One of them was treated for life-threatening injuries, whilst a second was treated for serious injuries. Both were then conveyed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital. Two were treated for serious injuries before being conveyed to Birmingham Children’s Hospital, whilst the final teenager was taken to New Cross Hospital after receiving treatment for potentially serious injuries.” There were three patients from the second car, two women and a man, all of whom were treated for minor injuries and discharged at the scene.”
We have approached Staffordshire Police for a statement following the collision.
