“Rangers Striker Abdallah Sima Faces Prolonged Absence with Thigh Injury, Manager Philippe Clement Eyes Solutions”
Rangers’ manager, Philippe Clement, has disclosed that striker Abdallah Sima will face a prolonged absence due to a thigh injury sustained while representing Senegal at the Africa Cup of Nations. The 22-year-old, on loan from Brighton & Hove Albion, has been a prolific scorer for Rangers this season, finding the net 15 times in 33 appearances across all competitions.
Despite not featuring in any Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) matches for Senegal, Sima has been ruled out for the remainder of the tournament. The Senegal FA confirmed his return to Rangers and cautioned about a potential “long period of unavailability” due to the injury incurred during training.
Rangers’ boss, Clement, anticipates receiving a comprehensive update on Sima’s injury after the Scottish Premiership clash with Hibernian on Wednesday. He acknowledged the expected long-term nature of the injury and emphasized the importance of obtaining accurate information.
The potential extended absence of Sima may prompt Rangers to explore the transfer market, with Fabio Silva from Wolverhampton Wanderers being the club’s sole January acquisition so far. Clement did not confirm or deny rumors linking the team to Nordsjaelland midfielder Mohamed Diomande, expressing a reluctance to discuss speculations.
Rangers currently hold the second position in the Scottish Premiership, trailing leaders Celtic by eight points with two more games played. Additionally, the team has progressed to the Scottish Cup fifth round and the Europa League’s last 16.
