“Rodgers Asserts Celtic’s Resolve as Atletico Madrid’s Bid for Matt O’Riley Gets Rejected”

Brendan Rodgers affirms that Celtic will not be parting ways with key players this month following the rejection of Atletico Madrid’s bid for Matt O’Riley.

Rodgers dismissed Atletico’s offer for the Danish midfielder,

citing it to be well below Celtic’s valuation. He emphasized that the financial aspect is not the priority, and the club is not compelled to sell.

With Celtic’s lead in the cinch Premiership cut to five points by Rangers, Rodgers is focused on strengthening the squad in the transfer window rather than weakening it.

“Mаtt is a player we don’t want to lose, and he won’t be going anywhere in January,” Rodgers stated.

He commended O’Riley’s commitment to Celtic and highlighted the player’s role in the team.

Despite interest from Atletico Madrid, O’Riley, 23, is

committed to Celtic, having recently extended his contract until 2027. Rodgers praised O’Riley’s mentality, professionalism, and respect for Celtic.

Rodgers made it clear that special offers or attempts to acquire

key players in January would not be entertained, stating, “They won’t be going, it’s as simple as that.”

Nicolas Kuhn is the sole January signing for Celtic, and Rodgers expressed ongoing efforts to add more quality players. While nothing is imminent, the manager

emphasized the importance of finding the right players for the squad.

Rodgers is focused not only on immediate signings but also on creating

opportunities for young players within the academy to develop and contribute to the team’s success.
