“I’m uncertain if they truly need to assume the risk” – Journalist acknowledges Everton’s contemplation of a late loan move.
Sky Sports reporter Dan Bardell believes Everton is unlikely to take the “risk” of acquiring Brentford’s Frank Onyeka before the 11 pm transfer deadline on Thursday.
As reported by The Standard’s live transfer tracker on January 31, both Everton and Fulham
have shown interest in the 26-year-old midfielder.
However, Brentford is cautious about strengthening Premier League rivals, as they
have rejected loan offers from La Liga club Girona and French outfit Reims for Onyeka.
Bardell expressed his skepticism about Onyeka making a significant impact at Everton even if a deal is secured before the transfer window closes.
In an exclusive interview with Goodison News, Bardell stated, “That would strike me as a bit
of a squad-filler option, Onyeka. I don’t think he would come in and play for Everton.”
Considering Everton’s existing challenges, including a deduction of 10 points and
additional charges, Bardell questioned the need for the club to take further risks in the transfer market.
He suggested that Everton should be cautious in making any additional moves, especially in
the loan market, unless there is a compelling reason, such as replacing a key player.
