Newcastle United are currently leading the pursuit for Everton midfielder Amadou Onana ahead of the summer transfer window, according to sources from Football Insider.
Football Insider disclosed on February 5th that Newcastle has been extensively scouting Onana, 22, in preparation for a potential transfer in the upcoming off-season.
A reliable source has now informed Football Insider that Everton is expected to demand a
fee ranging between £50-60 million for the Belgian international during the summer transfer window.
Everton is aiming for such a substantial fee if their takeover goes through before
the summer and they manage to avoid relegation to the Championship.
Arsenal is also interested in Onana, with reports from Football Insider on February 7th revealing that he is among several players being monitored by Mikel Arteta and his recruitment team ahead
of the summer transfer window.
While Everton is keen on retaining the services of the Belgian midfielder, their financial situation
presents challenges that need to be addressed.
Newcastle views Onana as a significant upgrade to some of their current midfield options.
In the 2023-24 campaign, Onana has made 24 appearances across all competitions, scoring
two goals and providing one assist.
Since joining Everton in August 2022, the former West Ham target has accumulated 50 Premier League appearances.
Onana’s contract with Everton runs until June 2027.
