EVERTON FOOTBALL UPDATE DIRECTOR

EVERTON FOOTBALL UPDATE DIRECTOR

As Everton‘s Director of Football, I want to provide an update following the closure of the fourth transfer window during my tenure, as we shift our focus to the final months of the 2023/24 Premier League season.

As mentioned in my previous communication in December, we approached the January transfer

window with a sense of pragmatism, considering the likelihood of limited activity.

Indeed, it proved to be a quiet window for the entire Premier League, with only eight clubs making permanent signings and total spending nearly ยฃ800 million less than in January 2023.

Despite the lack of new signings, we believe we possess a strong and versatile squad capable of handling the challenges ahead.

Our squad depth, along with the versatility of several players who can fulfill various roles, has been evident in recent weeks as we’ve navigated through an unusually busy period of injuries.

Players like Ben Godfrey and Andre Gomes have stepped up admirably, showcasing their commitment and dedication on the training pitch.

Additionally, Jack Harrison, James Garner, and Dwight McNeil have demonstrated their

adaptability by filling in different positions due to injuries and player absences.

The emergence of young talents such as Jarrad Branthwaite, Youssef Chermiti, and Lewis Dobbin highlights the strength of our streamlined squad, where every player plays a crucial role.

Despite our efforts, our position in the Premier League table remains unchanged from last year, currently sitting in 18th place.

However, comparing our progress to the same point in the previous season shows significant

improvement in terms of points, goals scored, and goals conceded.

Our collective effort is evident across all aspects of the club, from the manager and players to the support staff and administration.

Despite facing unprecedented challenges, we remain confident in our ability to secure the points needed to achieve our objectives.

Ensuring the club’s long-term sustainability has been a priority since my arrival.

Despite constraints, we have focused on making Everton more financially sustainable through prudent player trading, wage management, and reduced spending on agent fees.

Looking ahead, the completion of our new stadium later this year will provide a significant

boost to our club’s future. This state-of-the-art facility will enhance our ability to compete while complying

with financial regulations, marking a new chapter in Everton’s history.

As Director of Football, I am committed to overcoming challenges to realize Everton’s potential.

I am grateful for the passion and support of our fans, which drives us forward in our journey.

Thank you,

Kevin
