After the midfielder’s groin surgery, Sean Dyche acknowledges he “doesn’t know” if Dele Alli will play for Everton this season. The Toffees boss says “there’s a long way to go” until the former Spurs star returns to the field.
Sean Dyche has acknowledged that Dele Alli may not see any action for Everton this season due to another injury setback.
The midfielder, formerly of Tottenham, has been plagued by injuries and hasn’t played a first-team
game in nearly a year, with his last appearance occurring during his loan spell at Besiktas.
Dyche previously disclosed that Alli underwent groin surgery, further delaying his return to the pitch.
Now, Dyche has indicated that it’s uncertain when Alli will be fit to play again, emphasizing that the club has given him the necessary privacy and time to recover.
Alli’s return date remains unclear, with Dyche stating that there’s still a long road ahead for his recovery.
Despite the setback, Dyche expressed optimism about Alli’s resilience in overcoming his injuries.
Earlier, Dyche had mentioned that there was no specific timeline for Alli’s return and that initial indications were positive following the surgery.
Alli had already undergone a groin operation last summer and has openly discussed his
struggles with addiction stemming from childhood trauma, which has also impacted his return to the field.
The midfielder, who has yet to feature for Everton this season, recently announced on Instagram
that he suffered another injury setback, expressing gratitude for the support received and maintaining a
positive outlook on his recovery process.
