Wayne Rooney has addressed rumors suggesting he might engage in a celebrity boxing match during an appearance on the Overlap’s Stick To Football podcast.
The former Birmingham City manager joined the popular YouTube show to reflect on his playing and coaching career, but conversation quickly turned to the possibility of him stepping into the boxing ring.
Eddie Hearn, head of Matchroom Boxing, had previously mentioned on the show
that Rooney had expressed interest in a potential fight, particularly against Jake Paul.
Hearn disclosed that Rooney had messaged him about it, indicating some level of seriousness.
However, Rooney clarified that while there have been inquiries, his current focus remains on returning to football management rather than pursuing boxing.
Despite being recently dismissed by Birmingham City after a brief stint, the 38-year-old
Rooney is eager to secure his next managerial opportunity.
With managerial experience at three clubs already, including Derby County,
DC United, and Birmingham, he is determined to get back into football as soon as possible.
