Jamie Carragher calls Tottenham’s transfer target “outstanding.”
Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has praised Jarrad Branthwaite, who is reportedly a target for Tottenham Hotspur in the transfer market.
Since Ange Postecoglou took over as Tottenham head coach, the team has made
defensive reinforcements, signing Micky van de Ven and Radu Dragusin while seeing
the departures of Davinson Sanchez and Eric Dier.
According to the Daily Mail, Tottenham and Manchester United are among the frontrunners for the Everton defender, with Real Madrid, Arsenal, and Chelsea also expressing interest in the 21-year-old.
Branthwaite recently scored a crucial goal for Everton, securing a 2-2 draw against Tottenham with a late equalizer.
Branthwaite, who joined Everton from Carlisle in 2020 and spent last season on loan at PSV Eindhoven, is contracted to Goodison Park until 2027.
Carragher commended the young defender’s talent on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football, highlighting the abundance of promising center-backs aged 21 or younger in the Premier League.
He particularly praised Branthwaite’s performance, emphasizing his importance
to Everton’s prospects of avoiding relegation.
While acknowledging Branthwaite’s potential, some observers suggest that
Tottenham may have other priorities in the transfer market despite their defensive
acquisitions under Postecoglou.
