Everton: Following the appeal decision, Leeds United, Leicester, and Southampton assert their forecasts.

The recent appeal verdict that reduced Everton‘s points deduction has raised concerns regarding potential claims for compensation from rival clubs, according to Stefan Borson, a former financial advisor for Manchester City.

Borson expressed his reaction via Twitter on February 26, noting that while the judgment lowered

Everton’s sanction to six points, it also confirmed arguments that other clubs might use in claims against Everton.

Several clubs including Leeds United, Leicester City, Nottingham Forest, Southampton, and Burnley had previously indicated their consideration of claims against Everton.

Borson suspects that despite the matter going quiet publicly, these clubs may have pursued the issue behind the scenes.

He emphasized that the appeal decision, while beneficial for Everton in some aspects, could be

used by other clubs to support their claims for compensation under Premier League rules.

The confirmation of factors like sporting advantage, substantial breach, limited mitigation, and aggravation could strengthen the arguments of affected clubs.

Borson believes that all clubs previously involved likely gave notice to the independent commission, contradicting claims that none of them did.

He suggests that any claims made will likely be confidential, making it difficult to determine the exact status of each club’s involvement.

Despite some grounds for appeal being upheld, the overall outcome wasn’t a complete victory for Everton.

This leaves the possibility open for other clubs’ claims to proceed, although determining the

extent of their impact caused by Everton could be challenging.

Given the commission’s failure to properly calculate the club’s sanction, there may

be little confidence in another panel’s ability to determine compensation claims conclusively.
