After uncertainty about the red card, Youssef Chermiti Everton’s availability status was verified.
Following doubts regarding the red card, Youssef Chermiti’s availability for Everton has been confirmed.
Despite being sent off late in the game following his two-goal performance for Everton’s Under-21s,
Youssef Chermiti will be eligible to play against West Ham United on Saturday.
The 19-year-old striker impressed by scoring twice as Everton‘s second team staged a
comeback to win 3-1 against Fulham in the Premier League International Cup quarter-finals
at Walton Hall Park on Monday.
Initially falling behind to a volleyed effort from Callum Osmand, Everton’s Michael Keane equalized early in the second half with a header from a corner-kick.
Chermiti then put Everton ahead from the penalty spot on 70 minutes after Charlie Whitaker was fouled, before adding another goal seven minutes later with a powerful shot that eluded the goalkeeper.
However, the joy was tempered as Whitaker was sent off with six minutes remaining for
receiving a second yellow card, followed by Chermiti receiving his second booking for kicking the ball away
in additional time, reducing Everton to nine men for the remainder of the match.
Although Everton will be without both Chermiti and Whitaker for their upcoming semi-final match,
it’s worth noting that suspensions incurred in Premier League International Cup matches apply only to that competition. ‘
Consequently, both players will be available for selection by Sean Dyche as David Moyes’ West Ham United visit Goodison Park this weekend.
Chermiti’s impressive performance gives Everton’s manager something to consider, especially as senior strikers Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Beto have gone 35 matches without scoring between them.
