“£15–20 million” – Analyst believes a Hull City player can take Jarrad Branthwaite’s spot at Everton

Former England international Carlton Palmer has shared his perspective on Hull City’s defender, Jacob Greaves, suggesting that Everton could consider him as a potential replacement for

Jarrad Branthwaite should Branthwaite depart the Merseyside club in the

upcoming summer transfer window.

Branthwaite has reportedly attracted interest from prominent clubs such as

Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea, Tottenham, and Real Madrid, implying that the 21-year-old

defender will have numerous suitors in the transfer market.

Given this scenario, Everton has begun evaluating potential replacements,

with Greaves emerging as a prominent candidate.

The 23-year-old has played a significant role in Hull City’s defense this season,

even captaining the team on several occasions and impressing scouts from top-level clubs.

Palmer, who enjoyed a distinguished career in the Premier League with over

250 appearances for various clubs, believes that Greaves possesses the qualities to excel in the top flight.

However, Palmer suggests that Hull City’s promotion to the Premier

League could be crucial in retaining Greaves, as the player may seek to compete

at a higher level if Hull fails to secure promotion.

Despite Greaves’ contractual situation, which extends until 2026, Everton

could still secure his services for a substantial fee, likely in the range of £15m-£20m.

Palmer asserts that Greaves is destined for Premier

League football and suggests that if Hull City fails to secure promotion, he

could potentially move to Everton or another Premier League club.

Greaves, a local talent who has risen through Hull City’s academy ranks, has already amassed considerable experience with 169 appearances for the club, including featuring in every minute

of his 35 Championship starts this season. However, his development suggests that he may soon need to

challenge himself at a higher level.

Hull City currently occupies a playoff position in the Championship, with promotion still within reach.

However, their path to promotion is challenging, with several teams vying for a playoff spot.

Securing promotion could be pivotal in retaining Greaves, motivating Hull City to

intensify their efforts as they enter the final stages of the season.
