“Rangers and Celtic Target Will Dennis Extends Contract with Bournemouth, Diminishing Speculation Amidst Strong Form of Current Number One Jack Butland”
Rangers and Celtic target, Will Dennis, presently on loan at Kilmarnock,
has agreed to a contract extension with Bournemouth, as confirmed by the club.
On December 20, the Daily Record indicated interest from both Old Firm sides in the
23-year-old goalkeeper, whose contract was set to expire at the season’s end.
Contrary to these reports, Glasgow Times clarified on January 8 that Dennis
had committed to a two-year extension at the Vitality Stadium.
Considering the outstanding performance of Rangers’ current number one,
Jack Butland, pursuing Dennis may be deemed unnecessary.
Butland, who joined Ibrox in the summer, has consistently
displayed reliability and made crucial saves.
Given Butland’s secure position and reliable form, investing in another goalkeeper
like Dennis could be seen as redundant. Rangers might find it more sensible
to allocate funds to strengthen other areas of the squad, focusing
on positions that require reinforcement or depth.
Although Dennis has made a notable impact during his loan spell at
Kilmarnock, pursuing him may not align with the current needs of the
Rangers squad, making it unlikely that Philippe Clement, the Rangers manager,
would be overly concerned about missing out on his signing.
