“Rangers Clarify Transfer Rumors as Tashreeq Matthews Isn’t Pursued, Despite Impressive Performances”
Rangers have been associated with various players during the January transfer window,
with Tashreeq Matthews being the latest name linked to the club.
The former Borussia Dortmund youngster has been
performing well in Sweden’s Allsvenskan for IK Sirius, prompting
speculation about a potential move to Ibrox under manager Philippe Clement.
However, The Rangers Review has provided an update on the rumor,
clarifying the club’s stance on Tashreeq Matthews. Contrary to the speculations,
it has been confirmed that the 23-year-old winger won’t be joining Rangers.
Matthews, who scored 10 goals and contributed 11 assists in 30 appearances during
the recently concluded season in Sweden, showcased impressive numbers.
The origin of the initial reports from South Africa raises questions about how Rangers got involved in the discussions.
As seen with previous transfer links like Emmanuel Dennis and Steven
Alzate, not every association originates from the club’s official
scouting or inquiries into a player’s availability. During this time of the
year, managers, coaches, and sporting directors often receive numerous
calls from agents presenting players eager to make a move or return to the field.
Rangers, being an attractive option with competitive salaries, an outstanding
stadium, a state-of-the-art training ground, and the prestige of
competing for trophies, tend to draw attention.
While another forward is likely a priority for Clement’s transfer plans,
it is clarified that Tashreeq Matthews is not among the names on the list.
