“Scottish Cup Weekend Kicks Off with Aberdeen Advancing, Fifth Round Draw Set for Sunday”
Scottish Cup action resumes this weekend with 32 teams vying for a spot in the last 16, marking the Scottish Premiership sides’ entrance into this season’s competition after a two-week winter break. Aberdeen secured their place in the fifth round on Friday, defeating Clyde 2-0 at Hamilton’s New Douglas Park.
Saturday will feature thirteen ties, weather permitting, including Spartans vs Hearts and Dumbarton vs Rangers (pending a pitch inspection) live on BBC One Scotland and Viaplay Sport, respectively. Adverse weather conditions have already led to the postponement of the Brora Rangers vs Cove Rangers match, rescheduled for Tuesday.
The final tie on Sunday sees Celtic hosting Highland League Buckie Thistle at 4 pm on Viaplay Sport. Without replays, all matches will conclude on the day, with extra time and penalties if needed.
Following the matches, attention turns to the fifth round draw, scheduled for Sunday, January 21, 2024. The draw will be broadcast live during Sportscene on BBC Scotland at around 8.15 pm, with the program starting at 7.15 pm.
