Sam Tickle, an ex-Everton Scout, is rumored to be responding to “danger signals” in light of recent events.

Bryan King, a former goalkeeper who worked as a scout for Everton for more than eight years and in first-team scouting roles for a total of 28 years, is a brilliant new columnist that Goodison News is

thrilled to have on board. Bryan also worked for six years as a recruiter for

Tottenham and eleven years in two stints as a scout for Aston Villa.

According to former club scout Bryan King, the transfer rumors involving goalkeeper Sam

Tickle of Everton and Wigan Athletic are a result of the “danger signals” football

clubs are reading in the current environment.

On December 25, journalist Joe Thomas of the Liverpool Echo reported that

Tickle fits the profile of a player that Everton is looking forโ€”a young player who

have the potential to make the first team.

After making 24 appearances in League One and recording seven clean sheets,

Tickle has established himself as Wigan’s best goalkeeper.

It is unclear if Everton will pursue Tickle, but King believes the best course

of action would be to try and reduce the amount of money being spent on

transfers for players in overseas leagues.

Speaking to Goodison News, he stated: “I think it was always a great way to feed clubs at a lower

level and that’s how it was conducted before all this started in the last five

or six years before the rich owners came in.”

Have you seen the amount of money spent on foreign clubs and agents by the game?

Neither Premier League clubs nor Championship clubs, nor League

One or Two will never reclaim that.

“Of course, there are now foreign clubs, foreign players, foreign agents, and

a lot of money leaving the game, and I believe the warning signs have started

to spread throughout football.”

Given that Everton has England’s top player, Jordan Pickford, as they established first

choice, a move for Tickle would likely be considered long-term.

Though Tickle is still only 21 years old and has a lot of goalkeeping education

ahead of him, even if Everton were to make a move, they probably would look for a loan move for him.
